What is when can i take my piercing out?

It depends heavily on the piercing location and how well it has healed.

  • Fully Healed Piercings: Only remove the jewelry if the piercing is completely healed. This can take anywhere from a few weeks to over a year, depending on the piercing type. A healed piercing will not be tender, red, or produce discharge.

  • New Piercings: Never remove jewelry from a new or healing piercing for more than a very short period (perhaps just to clean it if instructed by your piercer). The hole can close up very quickly, even within minutes or hours, especially in the early stages of healing. If you need to remove it for a medical procedure, consult with your piercer about using a retainer made of a biocompatible material like bioplast or glass.

  • Signs of Healing Issues: If you experience signs of infection, see a doctor or your piercer before removing jewelry, as removing it could trap the infection.

  • General Rule: Err on the side of caution. If you are unsure, consult your piercer. They can assess the piercing and advise you on when it is safe to remove the jewelry for extended periods.
